So, who am I?
My name is...yes, you guessed it...Esther Straube. I am the 30-year-old writer of this book, who only started writing a little over a year ago. I live in Amsterdam, the Netherlands. I have been a fanatic reader of the romance genre for quite some time and some of my favorite writers are Jill Mansell, Marian Keyes, Stephenie Meyer, J.R. Ward and Becca Fitzpatrick. After having read many different books I decided that I could write one myself as well. Now more than a year later I have finished my book and this is the result.
The reason I chose this particular setting was because I’ve been lucky enough to get a glimpse of the music business from the inside out for a few years. My husband was the tour manager for a Dutch heavy metal band called Cancelled, who at some point changed their name to Demia. Of course, as the tour manager’s girlfriend I got to go to many concerts (small and bigger) and experience them through the eyes of the band/crew. It is a very interesting business to be involved in and not many people get the chance to go backstage at big festivals or small venues throughout the country. Since there was a strict no girlfriends on tour rule I never experienced tour life myself, but I have heard plenty of stories and seen enough video footage of it to have a good view of what it’s like. People who are in the music business will probably recognize some of the stuff that happens in the book and people who don’t know anything about it will find out a little bit of what actually happens when a band is on the road.
